I received my B.A. (Boğaziçi University, Istanbul/Turkey) and M.S. (Middle East Technical University, Ankara/Turkey) degrees in the field of Psychological Counseling and Guidance. Prior to moving to the U.S., I built experience in school counseling and career counseling in public and international schools in Turkey. I completed my doctoral studies in Counselor Education and Supervision with a graduate minor in Women’s Studies at the Pennsylvania State University. After completing my doctoral comprehensive exams, I worked as a full-time career counselor at Penn State Career Services between 2011 and 2015. I also taught several courses in the Counselor Education and Women’s Studies departments at Penn State.
After receiving my doctoral degree in December 2014, I took a semester off for international travel and volunteer work followed with a faculty position in the Counseling in Educational Settings program at Rowan University. I had rewarding teaching and research experiences at Rowan for the 2015-2016 academic year. In August 2016, I started to work as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Counseling at San Francisco State University.
